Form Energy is a team of passionate people tackling the challenge of climate change through transformationally low cost energy storage.  Our team members are active learners who enjoy working on tough technology problems in massive markets and embody our values of humanity, excellence and creativity. The company is backed by a diverse set of committed investors and we have raised over $360M to date.

Role Description
As a key member of the Finance team, you will partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to build achievable cost targets and synthesize a path to meet those goals. You will partner closely with Engineering and Product teams to evaluate early-stage design tradeoffs and material selection decisions. You will also work closely with Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to identify the optimal path for scaling as we significantly ramp-up deployment volumes over the coming years.

In doing so, you will be critical to our ability to achieve entitlement cost, and compete economically against CO2-emitting assets.

Success in this role requires long-term vision for the needs of a quickly growing company, technical knowledge in finance & engineering, and experience in scaling up a hardware product from prototype-scale to grid-transforming-scale.

Form Energy is committed to equitable compensation and we offer a generous benefits package to make sure you have the support you need. We cover 100% of employee premiums and 80% of dependent premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance for full time employees. We offer a flexible Paid Time Off program and every employee, regardless of gender identity or expression, is eligible for 12 weeks of paid parental bonding leave. We offer a 401k and all employees are granted stock options. A full listing of our benefits is available on our careers page.

At Form Energy, we are working toward a 100% renewable energy future for everyone in the world. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all our employees and are seeking to build a team that reflects the diversity of the people we hope to serve with our revolutionary products. Form Energy is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

What You'll Do:

  • Cost target & roadmap definition: You will partner closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to understand the lowest-level cost drivers for every battery and systems component. You will also define near-term and long-term cost targets while facilitating cross-functional efforts to identify, plan, and execute on the necessary technical evolutions to achieve those goals.
  • Inform key design trade-offs: You will develop models to help inform engineering architecture and material selection decisions during the design process. You will also build should-cost models to aid Supply Chain teams in understanding and optimizing cost structure of all subcomponents at the point of sourcing.
  • Cost forecasting: You will be responsible for maintaining an accurate projection of multi-day storage product costs, which will inform the corporate model, and help drive strategies to maximize profitability and optimize working capital needs. This requires detailed understanding of current and forecasted bill of materials, commercial supply chain agreements, and manufacturing / assembly processes.
  • Provide visibility & accelerate learning: You will be the key person providing insights to Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams on how actual battery and systems costs compare with forecast on a quarterly basis. In doing so, you will facilitate and accelerate learning cycles necessary to optimize our product cost. You will also partner closely with our Accounting, Software Engineering, and Business Intelligence team members to ensure that the correct business processes and systems are set up to obtain and structure the necessary data.
  • What You'll Bring:

  • Deep passion for tackling climate change
  • 5-7 years work experience (in finance and /or business operations)
  • Engineering experience through study and / or work is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated skill in partnering with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing leadership to execute on cross-functional workstreams
  • Relentless desire to optimize costs and maximize performance of Form multi-day storage
  • Experience managing and forecasting full bill of materials for a hardware product.
