Role Description
We are seeking an experienced application engineer to facilitate the closing of early commercial project deals. You will work closely with the commercial operations and analytics team to provide timely and effective sales and technical support to customers and project partners. This is a critical role to ensure the commercial adoption of Form’s multi-day battery product and facilitate the first project developments of multi-day storage that will accelerate decarbonization. In addition, you will support market adoption of our technology in new regions and provide feedback to the product management team to inform our product compliance roadmap. The ideal candidate should be comfortable communicating frequently with internal and external stakeholders and shall be capable of working both collaboratively and independently.

What You'll Do:

  • Review project specific requirements during the sales and project development phase and specify Form’s solution to meet customer needs
  • Lead pre-sale technical support for customer accounts and collaborate with commercial operations and product management teams in the preparation of proposals, RFIs, and conceptual designs
  • Assist customers and project partners in site selection, front end design, construction planning, interconnection and permitting applications
  • Understand codes and standards and other regulatory or utility requirements that may impact site selection and site design and can help propose solutions for compliance
  • Work with permitting agencies and AHJs to educate them on our new technology and understand hard and soft compliance requirements to facilitate new market adoption
  • Develop deployment and operational plans to drive successful product adoption in new markets 
  • Participate in early project planning, especially with regards to the development of project budget, scope, and schedule
  • Travel to client or project sites 10-30% of the time
  • What You'll Bring:

  • 5+ years of related experience in project development and/or project management in the renewable energy industry; utility scale project experience is a plus 
  • Solid understanding of grid-scale energy storage systems,  their applications, and compliance requirements; understanding of product compliance requirements in the EU ideal
  • Strong working knowledge of DC and AC electrical systems, such as power conversion technology, switchgear, transformers, meters, and other balance of plant components 
  • Good understanding of commercial contracts, guarantees, and how proposals and proper design shall address those requirements 
  • Direct experience with customers either in pre-sale or deployment phase 
  • Resourceful, highly organized, and collaborative team player capable of working closely with multiple cross-functional teams, including business development, systems engineering, and product management
  • Comfortable in a fast paced startup environment and can drive towards results with imperfect information 
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to crisply communicate product capabilities to a diverse audience, including customers, permitting authorities, and internal stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
