Role Description
Form Energy's Business Development & Analytics team is looking for a senior analyst to support the Commercial Analytics group within the Analytics team. As a senior member of the Analytics team, the senior analyst will work closely with Form Energy's Commercial Operations team, Battery Product Management team, and other Form teams to develop customer accounts, ultimately resulting in deploying Form Energy's multi-day storage product. In these engagements, the senior analyst will lead the Analytics team's effort to translate customer needs and pain points into a quantifiable framework.

The senior analyst will use a variety of data and modeling tools (primarily Formware, Form Energy's in house capacity expansion, unit commitment, and economic dispatch modeling tool) in conjunction with commercial acumen and other techniques to 1) determine the suitable project configurations (mix of storage and other technologies), 2) quantify the value that Form Energy's product can deliver to that customer, and 3) the drivers of that value.

The senior analyst will create compelling narratives and data-driven pitches to communicate this value to Form Energy’s current and future customers. Translate optimization model outputs into commercial pricing proposals and customer prioritization efforts. Where necessary, the senior analyst will work with Product Management, Software Engineering, and Modeling and Controls functions to prototype, scope and build new tools.

Form Energy is committed to equitable compensation and we offer a generous benefits package to make sure you have the support you need. We cover 100% of employee premiums and 80% of dependent premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance for full time employees. We offer a flexible Paid Time Off program and every employee, regardless of gender identity or expression, is eligible for 12 weeks of paid parental bonding leave. We offer a 401k and all employees are granted stock options. A full listing of our benefits is available on our careers page.

At Form Energy, we are working toward a 100% renewable energy future for everyone in the world. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all our employees and are seeking to build a team that reflects the diversity of the people we hope to serve with our revolutionary products. Form Energy is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide the core value analysis that drives our project proposals for our customers. This process involves 1) Mapping customer requirements to economic and optimization model specifications, 2) Aggregating and cleaning data, 3) Setting up and running complex, optimization-based models (e.g., Formware), 4) Interpreting and visualizing model outputs ("storytelling with data"), 5) Simple financial analysis (quick pro-forma modeling), and 6) Effectively communicate this value to our customers, helping them understand this value and moving them to develop projects with us.
  • Be the voice of the value proposition/analysis for the customers in Form Energy's internal deal processes.
  • Work with Form Energy's internal teams to 1) Improve Form Energy's processes around analytics projects, resulting in faster, more effective, and more profitable engagements, and 2) Formulate production-quality requirements for developing new tools or features that allow Form Energy to deliver or communicate differentiated value.
  • Create collateral - slides, memos, papers - and storytelling techniques to communicate technical and complex analyses clearly and concisely to internal and external stakeholders.
  • What You'll Bring:

  • Passion for our mission, sustainability, and climate change
  • Bachelor's degree higher in economics, engineering, mathematics, or related field
  • Four to seven-plus years commercial experience or a combination of graduate school and experience in market modeling or financial analysis within renewable energy, energy storage, or power sector
  • Ability to solve problems at the interface of optimization, energy, and project development
  • Deep understanding of U.S. power market fundamentals and dynamics
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to convey information and content quickly and effectively to stakeholders and customers
  • Ability to collect and organize large data sets, run extensive quantitative analysis to address complex questions, and present results clearly
  • Experience using Python for complex data analysis, manipulation, and visualization (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Altair, and Plotly)
  • Commercial account facing, and experience scoping and managing projects
