My Impact as a Safety Manager
The Safety Manager reports to the SVP of Engineering/Head of the Design Organisation. It will lead the implementation of the Design management System required of Part 21 Amendment 9 in the Design Organisation Approval (DOA) The nominee will be a CAA Form 4post-Holder, chair the safety review board, and be responsible for developing, administering and maintaining effective safety management processes, within the Vertical Aerospace DOA.
What success will look like for the Safety Manager
- Facilitate hazard identification, as well as risk assessment and management
- Monitor the implementation of action taken to mitigate risks, as listed in the safety action plan.
- Provide periodic reports on safety performance to the safety review board
- Ensure the maintenance of safety management documentation
- Ensure that safety training is available and meets acceptable standards
- Provide advice on safety matters and ensure the initiation and follow-up of internal investigations of occurrences
- Monitor the organisation’s safety performance against its safety policy and objectives
- Ensure safety actions are taken in a timely manner and the effectiveness of the organisation’s management systems processes
- Review the compliance monitoring results and the implementation of related corrective and preventive action.

We seek an ambitious individual with a proven track record in the aerospace safety management system. Additionally, you will have a strong leadership pedigree with a proven track record in safety management.
You will need:
- Knowledge of Part 21 regulations and Design Organisation Approval
- Develop and maintain technical procedures related to safety management in the DOA
- Knowledge of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and EU requirements for safety management
- Good understanding of;
- Safety management systems, including compliance monitoring systems
- Risk management and safety investigation techniques
- Human Factor (HF), including Human Performance (HP) and limitations
- Positive safety culture and its promotion
