Now we are seeking to find a Robotic Tooling Engineer who will be responsible for delivering designs for Arrival’s robotic assembly. You will support the optimisation of the Robofacturing process, work collaboratively with simulation, control and facility from concept through to issue, to manufacturing and to install and start of production. Apart from that you will also work on continuous improvements to optimize quality, utility, cost and layout. We expect you to understand pros and cons of different systems, have a good experience with various supplier catalogues and solid CAD skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, Verification, Delivery and Installation of facilities used for product assembly.
  • Delivery of automated robotic tooling solutions including Concept generation, 3D design, 2D drawings, manage tooling manufacturing and commissioning;
  • Develop standardised and cost effective tooling solutions that enable the scaling up of the Microfactories;
  • Organise cross-functional collaboration to ensure all process requirements, compliance requirements and relevant KPIs are captured during tooling development;
  • Lead research and development into advanced automated tooling technologies that enables the improvement of Arrival Robofacutring capabilities;
  • Provide technical direction and leadership to third party suppliers. Create and communicate the design specification. Lead design review and provide technical feedback to suppliers;
  • Coordinate between external suppliers and internal stakeholders through the programme life cycle (Planning, delivery, installation and commissioning).Translate tooling development into company standards and procedures;
  • Provide advice to the product design team to ensure new products are designed within existing tooling standards;
  • Create close working relationships with Product Design Team, Process Engineering, Simulation Engineering, Joining Engineering, PLM, Robot programmers, Automotive and Controls, as well as supporting the R&D team for new software development;
  • Be flexible and creative with tooling development and delivery;
  • Able to manage product updates and provide solutions in relative short timing.
  • Expertise:

  • Advanced technical skills in robotic facility design. (3D modeling, 2D Drawing and technical documentation;
  • Advance technical skills in GD&T for tooling design and manufacturing;
  • Proficient with 3D design CAD packages. (NX is preferred but training provided for experienced users of other software packages such as CATIA and Solidworks)Experience in working with Robotic tooling;
  • Experience in highly automated working environments such as robotic cells, automated production lines. Experience with commercial parts;
  • Knowledge of pneumatic systems and controls;
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturing;
  • Knowledge of ergonomic requirements for facility design;
  • Flexible approach to job responsibilities and working hours;
  • Able to travel to different locations at request.
  • Desirable:

  • Experience in automotive production;
  • Educated to degree level in Manufacturing or Engineering discipline;
  • Commitments to deliver and achieve results.
