Job Summary:

The Rework Quality Engineer works closely with Production Control, Engineering, Manufacturing Departments, and Third-Party Manufacturing Contractors to execute Rework and Inspection jobs from Beginning to End. Functions as the main point of contact, leader, and responsible person for all activities in the assigned rework/ quality validation location.


  • Manage the operation you are assigned (Main rivian point of contact and total responsibility for the success of the area).
  • Set priorities for the assigned rework area and ensure they are executed.
  • Maintain clear pass down notes.
  • Ensure Output/Reject data is in the tracker every shift.
  • Drive productivity and continually investigate ways to improve efficiency.
  • Train 3PC company on each job and verify there is an understanding of how to perform the work and validate the work.
  • Perform and document quality control audits.
  • Provide direction to Quality Techs assigned to the area.
  • Monitor communication and remove barriers to ensure output and production is not interrupted.
  • Ensure parts are ordered and available to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure all SAP QM Transactions are completed properly (Usage Decision and Conversions).
  • Manage consumable material and tool inventory.
  • Update Jira tickets for all jobs in the area.
  • Understand the shift priorities and ensure they are executed.



  • 1+ Yrs Experience in a Manufacturing Environment with Rework, Inspection, and Quality Responsibility
  • Experience with Engineering Design Changes, Manufacturing process and Supply Chain in a relevant field
  • Experience with Materials Requirement Planning “MRP” software such as SAP
  • Ability to understand and interpret part specifications and read drawings.
  • Familiarity with CAD Software.
  • Experience developing jigs and fixtures to aide in rework
  • Intermediate or greater knowledge in Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook programs
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively



  • Bachelors in Engineering or equivalent experience


Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
