About This Role

The Revenue Accounting Manager will be a high profile, hands on position that will be responsible for ensuring that revenue is recorded accurately and timely each month. This key position will interact and coordinate with colleagues across all regions (US, EMEA, LATAM) and multiple departments (FP&A, Sales Operations, Legal, etc.) to ensure proper revenue accounting treatment, execution of the revenue operations and reporting of results. 

This role will be responsible for all aspects of the Company’s operational revenue accounting processes including the oversight of billing, collections and credit. The role will also be responsible for all revenue general ledger accounting processes including the application of appropriate revenue guidance, oversight of accounts receivable, revenue reporting and working with FP&A on revenue forecasting. 

The Revenue Accounting Manager will play a key role in the accounting organization around change management, process improvement, scaling accounting infrastructures and standardizing processes globally. This position will report directly to the VP, Corporate Controller based in Santa Barbara.

What You’ll Do 

  • Responsible for the global revenue close process, including deferred revenue, journal entries, account reconciliations and flux analyses
  • Responsible for overseeing billing, collections, cash applications and credit processes
  • Responsible for revenue related estimates including unbilled revenue, estimated variable consideration, estimated customer incentives and allowance for doubtful accounts
  • Responsible to analyze various revenue related data points to ensure the integrity of revenue
  • Prepare and present to management analyses, summarization of notables, and results
  • Partner with technical accounting to develop and implement accounting policies as necessary
  • Interface with teams throughout the Company and effectively communicate and educate individuals on revenue recognition processes and requirements
  • Work closely with accounting teams and FP&A to build out new processes and structures to improve the month end close process
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure audit requirements are met
  • Lead the implementation of best practices to scale our business and global revenue expansion
  • Partner with technical accounting to prepare revenue related external disclosures
  • Assist with revenue related ERP changes as necessary
  • Work closely with the accounting leadership team on the implementation of strategic plans, projects, programs and systems

What You Bring

  • CPA required
  • Bachelor degree in accounting or finance
  • 5+ years accounting experience with a Big 4 accounting firm combined with industry experience (tech industry and/or public company experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of accounting literature including but not limited to ASC 606 - Revenue from Contracts with Customers
  • Intellectual curiosity and creativity
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to prioritize
  • Oracle and Salesforce experience a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong attention to detail
