About this Role

We’re looking for a Retail Services Director to join Apeel’s growing Sales team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for supporting sales growth and profitability for the business to drive sustainable growth. You’ll help to increase demand for our products with our retail customers by working hand in hand with our Sales team, you will support our most important retail partners directly as they put Apeel products on their shelves. You must have extensive experience in understanding consumer needs and the retail environment.

This position will report to the Senior Director, Retail Sales and may be based in either the Netherlands, Spain or UK. This position will have up to a 30% travel requirement to customer sites and retail locations domestically and internationally. We’re looking for someone to join our team immediately.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with our Sales team to support the sell-in and implementation process for new retailers
  • Design end to end commercial programs for implementing our products with retailers, advising on category management topics like quality control, assortment + merchandising, store rollouts, inventory levels and supply chain, point of sale, marketing, pricing, and more
  • Manage and influence executive sponsors from our retail partners (VP level and above)
  • Join discussions with key retailers in both pre and post sales process
  • Foster relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services
  • Determine the positioning of a product category to maximize visibility
  • Liaise with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category
  • Collaborate with Retail Category Managers, Buyers, Quality Controllers and Merchandisers to expand product categories
  • Make forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory
  • Assume responsibility of budget development and revenue for category
  • Analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience sales, implementation, consulting and/or solutions experience in a related field
  • Adept at working with and influencing senior stakeholders (VP and above) in an advisory capacity
  • Deep category experience in produce, grocery, retail, or related industry
  • Account management experience in a sales, marketing, or implementation-type capacity
  • Fluency of retail analytics and performance metrics – and the ability to turn data insights into action
  • Ability to design end-to-end programs with the full supply chain (consumer, retailer, supplier) in mind
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Must have the skills to create reports, presentations and manage complex spreadsheets
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with retail panels management’ (Nielsen, Kantar…)
