At Electrified Thermal, we are working to decarbonize the hottest industries and processes by replacing fossil fuels with renewable heat. Our new technology, the Joule Hive Thermal Battery, converts unreliable solar and wind energy into on-demand heat, stored at temperatures approaching 2000 degrees Celsius. The stored heat can be delivered to industrial furnaces, boilers, or power plants that the Joule Hive is co-located with, enabling a phase-out of fossil fuels across heavy industry by 2050. About Electrified Thermal Solutions
Boilers, furnaces, and kilns are the engines of our industrial economy, providing heat to melt steel, form cement, and transform chemicals. But historically reaching this high-temperature heat required burning fossil fuels, making the industrial sector responsible for 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
Electrified Thermal Solutions has a simple and massive goal: to electrify industry.
To do this, we are building the Joule Hive™ thermal battery: an energy storage technology that converts and stores cheap, renewable electricity as high-temperature heat. Our vision is to mitigate gigatons of CO2 emissions per year by deploying the Joule Hive™ at every industrial furnace, turbine, boiler, and kiln.
About the Role
Electrified Thermal is seeking an R&D Lab Intern to assist the R&D team’s work in the Medford, MA lab where we test our novel electrically-heating refractory bricks. Your role will be at the forefront of our development work to characterize and test our novel bricks which form the basis of the Joule Hive ™ Thermal Battery. Your work will tangibly deepen our understanding of this cutting-edge technology through varied and challenging test campaigns. You will report to the Materials Test Engineer.
