In this role, you will bring your craft and passion for bringing new ideas and concepts to life, leading projects to design and build prototypes to deliver our autonomous vehicle platform. Through close cross-functional collaboration with our designers and engineers, you will directly contribute to the quality and experience of our cutting-edge autonomous vehicles.
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $131,000 to $217,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.

In this role, you will:
Create highly complex physical design and engineering prototype parts and assemblies in CATIA or SolidWorksAccurately model complex surfaces, geometries, and assembliesGenerate accurate and concise drawings, including prototyping fabrication detailsUtilize a broad range of techniques such as machining, metal fabrication, welding, laser cutting, water jet, and additive manufacturing equipmentUse and maintain manual shop equipment, additive manufacturing equipment, and CNC machine toolsDesign and build tools and molds for casting or composites, and produce sample partsQualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field7+ years of experience in prototyping or model making for design and engineeringMastery of CATIA or SolidWorks for prototyping applicationsExperience driving complex prototyping projects across multiple functionsBonus Qualifications
Experience with supplier management and development to support PrototypingExperience with documentation tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or ConfluenceMIG and TIG welding experience
