About the company:

ICEYE is a Finnish space technology company that owns and operates the world's largest commercial synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation. The company delivers continuous, all-weather, day-and-night Earth observation capabilities, enabling persistent monitoring and rapid detection of changes at any location on the planet. Its core offerings span SAR data products, mission systems for sovereign governments, defense and intelligence solutions, and natural catastrophe monitoring for the insurance, banking, and public sectors. ICEYE plays a significant role in climate resilience and disaster response by providing near real-time, observed data on natural catastrophes such as floods, wildfires, and hurricanes. Unlike traditional modelling approaches, ICEYE delivers actual satellite-derived flood extents and depths, empowering governments, insurers, and utilities to respond faster and more accurately to climate-driven disasters. This capability supports community resilience, more precise insurance claims processing, and informed policy decisions in the face of increasing climate risk. What distinguishes ICEYE is its combination of the largest SAR constellation globally, sub-meter (25 cm) resolution imagery, and an end-to-end operational intelligence infrastructure that includes deployable ground units capable of compressing collection-to-dissemination timelines to minutes. Founded with a mission to make Earth observation data continuously available and actionable, ICEYE serves defense, intelligence, government, and commercial clients worldwide, positioning itself as a critical enabler of both national security and climate adaptation efforts.

Role highlights:

  • Protective Services Lead

  • Location: Espoo, Finland

  • Department: Security

  • Reports to: Head of Physical Security and Safety

  • Employment type: Permanent

  • Workplace model: Hybrid

  • Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, where required)

Why this role matters:

As a Protective Services Lead, you'll be the operational security lead keeping ICEYE's people safe wherever they work or travel. You'll protect our executives and travelling employees, lead our response when things go wrong, and build the security practices a fast-growing global company needs. This is a hands-on, senior role where your impact comes from scope and ownership rather than team size.

Who We Are

ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth.

ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. To our customers we provide intelligence with unmatched quality, latency and revisit times, in any weather, day or night. To governments who choose to operate their own constellation we provide this proven capability as a sovereign system.

ICEYE-built constellations serve customers in defence and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency management. We enable fast decisions that contribute to a safer future.

Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

  • Run travel risk management for employees: pre-travel risk assessments, real-time monitoring, and on-the-ground assistance across all destinations.

  • Lead ICEYE's response to security crises, coordinating internal teams and external partners to resolve situations quickly and limit the impact on people and operations.

  • Plan and deliver executive protection for senior leaders, including threat assessments, route planning, and coordination of protective details.

  • Act as the first point of contact for security incidents and alarm activations, triaging, escalating, and responding on site or remotely.

  • Plan and oversee security for company events, from risk assessment and access control to coordination with venues and security providers.

  • Manage external security vendors (protective services, travel risk, and event security), holding them to agreed service levels.

  • Write and maintain security procedures, run crisis exercises and drills, and deliver security training for employees.

  • Support business lines running specialised or fast-moving programmes with tailored security planning

What we’re looking for

Must haves:

  • Around 8 years of security experience in an international setting, covering crisis management, executive protection, or travel security across multiple sites and regions.

  • Hands-on experience managing external security vendors, including performance and service level management.

  • A track record of leading security for executive travel programmes or high-profile company events.

  • Experience planning and running crisis exercises, incident response drills, and security training.

  • Strong written documentation skills: procedures, incident and after-action reports, and travel risk assessments.

  • Calm, structured decision-making under pressure, including during simultaneous incidents across sites.

  • Confidence working with authorities, law enforcement, and external providers, and explaining security requirements clearly to non-specialists.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in critical infrastructure, defence, or other environments handling classified or sensitive information.

  • An established professional network across the security, government, and critical infrastructure sectors.

  • Experience in high-scale security operations across multiple geographies.
