This position will be within the Fluence Digital business unit. Fluence Digital’s IQ platform uses artificial intelligence, advanced price forecasting, portfolio optimization and market bidding to ensure energy storage and flexible generation assets are optimally participating in wholesale electricity markets.
Work Location/Schedule: Hybrid in office 3 days per week, commutable distance to one of our offices Arlington VA, Alpharetta, GA or Houston, TX. Relocations considered.

Job Description
The Commercial Finance Manager CFM is responsible for all commercial aspects related to customer offers and contract negotiations at the sales phase. This includes, but is not limited to, driving the process for commercial issues to ensure compliance with company guidelines for contractual, accounting, legal and tax aspects of the offers and contracting phase. The CFM ensures compliance to applicable regulations (internal and external) during the bidding process and ensures a full and accurate presentation of the risk and financial profiles of each opportunity from the firm offer phase to the contracting phase. The CFM role is crucial and active during customer contract negotiations and ensures a proper balance of the risk/reward relationship for each opportunity. This role requires a commercial background with firm understanding of finance concepts, experience working with large turnkey projects in the Energy, Renewable Energy or Oil & Gas sectors.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Participates in contract negotiations, and drives negotiations related to commercial contractual terms ensuring adherence to company’s risk profiles.
Ensures customer’s commercial requirements and priorities are identified and provides an accurate assessment of the contractual/financial risks and opportunities.
Supports the Sales team in managing and optimizing targeted financial results with due professional care (e.g. project margin, cash flow, security and credit instruments, insurance, contractual risks, etc.).
Secures adequate and timely support from subject matter experts within the organization to properly develop the commercial aspects of offers during the bidding process.
Drives the review and evaluation of the customer’s contract conditions, ensures examination by Legal and secures proper approval levels within the organization including to the Executive Leadership Team, as necessary.
Signs off the project pricing calculations and documentation.
Conducts the project handover from sales to execution teams.

What will the ideal candidate bring to Fluence?
5-7 years of commercial or finance experience in a similar role within the Energy, Renewable Energy or Oil & Gas sector. Advanced understanding of commercial contract terms and conditions, including light drafting with contracts (including but not limited to Supply, Engineering, Procurement and Construction and Long-Term Services Agreements).Firm understanding of risk management contractual elements, such as performance guarantees, liquidated damages, warranties, securities, insurance, etc.Strong negotiations skills with 3rd parties and customers. Firm understanding of Project financial KPIs.
Detail oriented with strong time management, project management and communication skills.Partner to the sales organization which requires understanding of contract risk management, contract set-up structures and solid financial analysis background.Demonstrated ability to interact with executive management. Strong background in using MS Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Up to 25% travel as needed domestically and potentially globally.Good working knowledge of Energy Storage Industry, preferred.

Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, or finance.
