Who You Are

Sila Nanotechnologies is looking for an experienced Project Manager for our Capital Projects team to lead projects in engineering, design, procurement and construction. This fast-track project will incorporate key front-end loading stage gate processes, while potentially combining phases in order to maintain the expedited schedule. In this role you’ll work closely with internal teams and external engineering and construction partners to effectively coordinate, complete, and close out the project. 

Note: This is a temporary, full-time position for 18-months/duration of the project

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Direct and oversee key phases of Sila capital project engineering, procurement and construction management including: project planning, site development, permitting, contracts, front-end and detailed design, documentation, construction, and closeout
  • Own overall project budget and construction schedule as well as coordination across contractors, Sila teams, and other partners
  • Support the development of new project management processes and tools at Sila, using past experience and industry standard methodologies
  • Engage with internal Sila teams to understand, document and communicate all requirements for the assigned capital project(s).
  • Develop and manage relationships with engineering partners, contractors, and other external parties; provide direction on priorities, schedule, and project coordination to ensure deadlines are met
  • Coordinate and track equipment installation and commissioning
  • Manage RFI’s, change order requests, approvals, documentation, scope of work, risk management, and record-keeping

Knowledge & Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in project engineering or related project work, with a minimum of 2 years of project management experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a science, engineering, or construction management field
  • Skilled in commercial or industrial project planning, contract and budget management, schedule management, risk management, and project execution
  • Strong background of selecting and leading principal and subcontractors
  • Proven communication and meeting-management skills, across external and internal teams
  • Familiarity with industrial codes and standards
  • Deep experience with construction documentation, drawings, and specifications
  • Experience managing projects using a standard stage gated front-end loading process is helpful
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Willing to travel to and work on build sites for extensive time periods

Physical Demands & Work Conditions

  • Move long distances and be stationary for extended periods of time
  • 75% travel to and from engineering office or build sites (more during construction activities)
