Commonwealth Fusion HR LLC seeks a full time Project Controls Scheduler at our offices located at 148 Sidney Street, Cambridge, MA 02139. The Project Controls Scheduler will lead the process of developing and managing the Integrated Master Plan for achieving net fusion energy. The Scheduler will work with the Head of Project Management Office (PMO), the Head of SPARC Project, the Chief Financial Officer and design/engineering leads from over a dozen systems to plan scheduling and provide the best possible path to on-time, on-budget completion.

This team member will:

  • Develop and maintain the integrated project schedule utilizing Primavera P6 and MS Project scheduling software.
  • Work directly with engineering and management personnel to develop, update and status the project schedule to ensure accurate information for all project reporting requirements.
  • Verify progress against the plan and identify areas that could result in time delay or cost overruns to the project; work with management to determine appropriate preventative and corrective actions.
  • Resource load the schedule at an appropriate level to provide resource leveling and reporting at the subsystem level.
  • Support annual budget development activities to ensure alignment with resource loading, and identification of potential gaps.
  • Work with scope owners to develop forecasts for future or delayed activities.
  • Prepare and present Critical Path, 2-Month Look-ahead, schedule variance, and other schedule related reports as needed.
  • Assist the Head of PMO with earned value baseline validation, preparation of performance (cost & schedule) summary reports and analysis of budget and schedule trending data.
  • Hold workshops with team employees to provide training on schedule development including logic ties, sequencing, and estimating durations, to support development of the schedule for each project phase and/or subsystem.
  • Assist the Head of PMO in development of Project Controls procedures and policies.
  • Support development and maintenance of the project Risk Management Matrix (Risk Register).
  • Support the development of change management, assess each change and advising the change control board with alternative solutions to mitigate any incurred delay or cost, if needed.
  • Assist the project construction manager in the development of the advanced work packaging and workface planning procedures.
  • The ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field, plus eight years of experience performing scheduling and planning for EPC complex projects.
  • Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include the following: 8 years of experience planning complex manufacturing such as oil & gas, or chemical, or nuclear including the following:

  • Level 5 schedule for Engineering /Procurement/ Construction (EPC) projects.
  • Utilizing Primavera (P6), Microsoft Project, and various cost / budget earned value reporting systems.
  • Performing schedule resource loading, resource leveling & smoothing to support the critical path, company budget and business value.
  • Performing change management, Time & Cost Claims (Extension of Time, Variation Orders).
  • Preparing the progress monitoring and controlling system (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Dashboard reports and 1 month Look Ahead).
  • Preparing baseline, re-baseline, recovery, revised and acceleration schedules.
  • Performing delay analysis and developing mitigation plans.
  • Performing high level Schedule “Level 2”.
  • Performing cost loading, cashflow, Earned Value Management & Cost Forecast.
  • Generating What If Scenario schedules to assess the impact of possible project risk.
  • Preparing project controls processes.
  • Experience must include: 2 years of the following:

  • Developing lean construction concepts.
  • Developing the concepts of advance/construction work packaging.
  • Performing production planning, continuous improvement, and productivity.
  • Additional experience and/or qualifications:

  • Experience may be gained during advanced degree program.
  • Travel required within the U.S. 10-20% of the time.
