Your role and your team:

As a Production Test Engineer you will be working towards developing “in line” and “end of the line” test capabilities to ensure quality of internally and externally manufactured products according to Aerospace standards and Lilium policies.  

  • You will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary, and multicultural team in charge of leading the development, selection, procurement and implementation of the whole range of equipment needed at one of the most innovative companies in the market.
  • You will contribute directly to the test department within the Manufacturing Equipment team to fulfil all production test needs across all different internal factories ensuring high volume production rates.
  • You will help to shape the future of Lilium by using your experience and knowledge to push for a cross-functional standardization, automation and growth of the production department pointing towards the certification of our assembly lines.

Your Day to Day

As a Production Test Engineer you will work closely with the different stake holders to define and implement the most adequate test solution for every specific case. In your day to day you will face tasks such as:

  • Development of fixtures, tools and scripts to automate production testing at different levels.
  • Coordinate with the system engineering team to determine test parameters, produce test documentation, troubleshoot, and perform quality assurance procedures.
  • Assess and provide feedback to the design team towards design feasibility and optimization using tools such as DFT, DFM and PFMEA workshops.
  • Assess the existing test procedures to identify its strengths and weaknesses and implement solutions as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing engineers from other fields, such as plant and processes, in order to assure quality and mass production rates in the different assembly lines.
  • Work closely with our system test department to help defining adequate limits, procedures and conditions for the test of the different sub-assemblies in order to fulfil the design intent.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with test solution providers to develop execution plans ensure the development of the right test solution, on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with internal customers to manage software and database development and improvement.
  • Write test equipment specifications as per the applicable international standards such as according to machinery directive 2006/42/EG.
  • Lead the implementation of new or transferring test production equipment and procedures for new product introduction.
  • Lead troubleshooting of production hardware, registering operational discrepancies, reducing production line failures.
  • Ensure training of technicians in the execution of the test activities that require manual operations.
  • Shop floor support, during ramp-up phase and partially during serial production.
  • Create testing plans overviews and test sequence scripts.
  • Responsible for Test preparation and execution skills.
  • Usage of CAD tools such as CATIA, Siemens NX, or AUTOCAD to support the implementation of the test solutions.
  • Assessment of technical quotations and support on CAPEX activities.

Your Profile

You are a highly motivated engineer with proven experience in related fields, capable of programming and with a hands-on and creative mindset.

  • You are a passionate, experienced and highly motivated engineer, challenge or target-driven and with a team-working mindset.
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering is required with preferable specialization in Electronics / Instrumentation/ Mechanical or physical sciences.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in product design and in Production Test with mass manufacturing assembly lines.
  • Experience in industrial environments in Aerospace, Automotive industries or high volume consumer electronics.
  • Hands On Experience in developing Functional Test / End of Line Test Equipments for Electronic Assembly tests
  • Testing concepts - Good experience in system testing, regression testing, retesting etc.
  • Experience in the implementation of methodical approaches for identifying risk and failure modes such a PFMEA and trouble shouting such as Six Sigma.
  • Conducted or participated in DFM and/or DFT workshops.  
  • Experience in data analysis and database creations.
  • Experience in conducting MSA for high volume assembly lines.
  • Experience in writing Specifications for test equipment, test plans and test systems for high volume assembly lines, as well as logic diagrams for DCS.
  • Experience in budgeting and quotation assessment for test equipments.
  • Good Knowledge on machine safety and CE marking.
  • Determining the component level Test coverage and work towards enhancing it close to ideal conditions
  • Requirement analysis and Functional test and/or System test creation design experience
  • Testing tools, Test automation (API / UI) and reporting 
  • Good knowledge on SDLC process
  • Ability to gather and analyse the requirements from the specification documents and other sources
  • Proficiency in LabVIEW, C++, Python (Good to have), MS office, Siemens NX, Minitab (Good To have)
  • Fluent in English. German skills are a plus.
