About the company:
Our Mission
At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the way for electric aviation. The Valo, our eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing), 'zero emissions' aircraft will set a new safety standard for how we will navigate the sky.
We won't realise our mission following the same legacy processes and traditions our predecessors followed, instead, we want to 'redefine' aerospace best practices. We are growing quickly from a prototype business to a scaling SME, and the next few years will be critical to our success and delivering on our ambitious goals. Valo is targeting airliner-level safety certification in 2028 ahead of entering service with our airline and operator customers.
At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the future of electric aviation. As we scale production of our world-leading electric aircraft, we are looking for a Battery Production Team Lead to take ownership of our battery manufacturing area and play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality, and cost-effective production.
As Battery Production Team Lead, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and performance of the battery production area.
Lead and manage the battery production area, ensuring all manufacturing activities meet safety, quality, schedule, and cost targets
Directly manage and develop a team of technicians covering assembly, testing, and quality assurance
Ensure all production equipment and tools are operational and fit for purpose
Lead troubleshooting activities to quickly resolve issues and minimise production downtime
Drive continuous improvement in processes, efficiency, and quality
Work cross-functionally to support design changes, new product introduction, and production ramp-up
Ensure compliance with relevant aerospace and battery manufacturing standards
Proven experience leading teams in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally with automated machinery or manufacturing systems
Strong people leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams
Solid understanding of health and safety requirements in a production environment
Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and certifications relevant to battery manufacturing and aerospace quality management systems (e.g. AS9100)
A hands-on, solutions-focused mindset with the confidence to lead technical problem-solving on the shop floor
