ICON is looking for a Product Test Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of Product Test infrastructure and operations. You will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of test operations and infrastructure, as well as the point of contact for a system or systems as they are fabricated and researched. The product test team focuses primarily on the acceptance, qualification and R&D test campaigns of the Vulcan and Magma 3D printing systems. This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX location and will report to Sr. Manager - Product Test. Additionally, travel to ICON’s job sites to support troubleshooting and repair may be required. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Architect test campaigns, design test infrastructure, and execute test procedures.
  • Participate in/lead data reviews and hardware design reviews as part of the test and design feedback loops. 
  • Develop and execute system and subsystem level test procedures for acceptance testing, qualification testing, and research and development testing. Create data-driven test plans with verifiable pass/fail criteria and select instrumentation to support test plans. 
  • Support technician teams in the fabrication and build up of test stand infrastructure and test articles. 
  • Work with systems and design engineers to develop systemic upgrade plans and propose potential solutions to test issues. 
  • Design and implement data acquisition systems, electrical and controls programming, and perform FMEAs on systems to predict future performance. 
  • Develop and implement automated test tools with data visualization, automated test reporting using SQL Python, or other analytics tools. 
  • Operate test stands as required. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, 
  • Minimum 2+ years experience in a related field of mechanical engineering, mechatronics, fluid systems, or structural systems. 
  • Experience working with and reading P&IDs 
  • Exposure to a wide variety of test systems, production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment (pogo-pins, pressure transducers, temperature controllers, current meters, etc.)

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with DAQ systems, sensors, accelerometers (Dewesoft, Scope)
  • Experience with vibro-acoustic analysis
  • Knowledge of data pipelining, data warehousing, and data analytics (Python, SQL)
  • Experience generating functional diagrams and process diagrams of complex systems 
  • PLC logic and programming with Structured Text (Twincat/Scope)
  • Versed in SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of various part fabrication techniques (machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, etching, injection molding, 3D printing, hydroforming)

REQUIRED  EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must be prepared to work, in part, in extreme environments: temps > 100 degrees or below freezing, sun, rain, mud, lack of electricity, etc.  We get dirty.
