About the company:

Plants draw down CO2 from the atmosphere via photosynthesis and solar power at unbeatable efficiency. We take waste biomass and transform it using our patented reactors, permanently storing the carbon in an inert, solid form called biochar.

Our unique process produces high-quality biochar for both electric arc furnace steelmaking and also high tech agriculture applications, generates renewable energy, and creates some of the most tangible carbon credits on the market.

Carbo Culture is a carbon removal technology developer on a mission to help mitigate climate change by permanently removing CO2. We’re headquartered in Helsinki with a subsidiary and ops in the UK and the US. Our team is largely remote, but we have an office in central Helsinki where the Engineering team often meets on a regular basis. Additionally, we often have company wide summits on an annual basis. We work closely together online across time zones using tools such as slack, zoom and the Google suite.

We are looking to add a process operator at our R&D facility in Kerava to work with our engineering team and ensure adequate supervision and monitoring of our production processes. This position will ensure optimum efficiency and continuation of daily operations and will report to our R&D site manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with the engineering team and participation in daily operations at our facilities.
  • Complete all duties as assigned with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship
  • Perform weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance on all production and R&D equipment
  • Operating process related equipment and plant process control systems in a safe environmentally responsible manner
  • Optimizing plant performance by monitoring process equipment and conditions using process control and process information systems
  • Determining root causes of deviations in process, product or equipment performance and have a troubleshooting mindset
  • Performing process equipment troubleshooting, routine equipment repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance
  • Performing daily tasks efficiently using the appropriate computer tools and software
  • Ensuring operational activities and process performance are aligned with business goals

Ideal candidate:

  • You have relevant work experience in mechanical process technology and have worked with pressurized systems.
  • Experience in thermal energy systems production and high temperature processes is a plus.
  • Excellent tolerance of new situations. Our roles are not standardized work and we are creating new ways of working and processes.
  • Quick thinking and responsive to surroundings, requirements, and domains with a safety focussed attitude
  • Self-motivated team player and able to work unsupervised
  • Educational background in electrical or automation engineering would be ideal.
  • Professional proficiency in English and Finnish language.
