Role Description

We are looking for a Process Engineer II to join our Operations Engineering team. In this role, you will be a key contributor as we scale the production of our iron-air battery technology. You will contribute to the optimization of production workflows, using data-driven insights to enhance quality, throughput, and yield. By partnering across our team to bridge the gap between process development and high-volume execution, you will ensure our manufacturing processes are both robust and scalable. Your work in driving these technical improvements directly enables the delivery of long-duration energy storage systems essential for a reliable electric grid.

This opportunity is based out of Form Factory 1 – Form Energy’s 550,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in Weirton, WV, a commutable distance from Pittsburgh. Purpose-built for high-volume, advanced battery production, Form Factory 1 is a hub of fast-moving, collaborative work driving a new era of large-scale American energy manufacturing in the heart of the Rust Belt.

Relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do:

  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects to optimize production processes, reduce costs, improve quality, and increase efficiency.

  • Coordinate collaboration with our team to identify and solve production issues while maintaining rigorous product quality standards.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop comprehensive corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment, processes, and systems.

  • Utilize key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and ensure production targets are met.

  • Prioritize safety by ensuring compliance with all regulations and company policies related to environmental, health, and safety.

  • Support the usage of PLM, MES, and ERP systems to enhance manufacturing intelligence and operational tracking.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of related work experience.

  • Experience with manufacturing processes and showing accountability for their quality, throughput, and yield.

  • Ability to use statistical methods for making process development decisions and a high level of comfort with data query tools.

  • Experience participating in multidisciplinary projects and a desire to mentor others in industrial best practices.

  • Technical understanding of creating PFMEAs and implementing robust controls for risk mitigation.

  • Pragmatic problem-solving skills and a history of thriving on complexity within a high-growth environment.

  • Intellectual curiosity and a drive for continuous learning to solve the unique challenges of manufacturing a complex novel technology.
