As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team, you will design, evaluate, and deliver world-class high-performance wall systems, enclosures, and buildings using ICON’s technology set. As an ICONIC, you will be a leader and direct contributor to the development of entirely novel approaches to high-performance buildings and you will have the opportunity to work with your team to advance humankind’s ability to provide dignified, affordable, resilient, and sustainable shelter to the world. This role reports to the Director of Building Design & Performance in our Austin, TX office.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General Knowledge of Construction as well as finishing including expert Carpentry skills, experience in concrete construction and finishing.
  • Perform journey-level carpentry work in the maintenance, repair, construction, alteration, forming, framing and finishing of buildings, furniture and facilities.
  • Expert ability to Install partitions, doors, windows, door frames and casings.
  • Ability to use basic hand and trade tools.
  • Interest and investment in creating new design standards for concrete 3D-printed (C3DP) construction including finish out of ICON homes  to maximize   human comfort, safety, experience, and sustainability.
  • Strategize, test, and implement design solutions, building envelope details, with a focus on window and door systems, waterproofing, and weatherization.
  • Document and communicate (photograph and describe) construction sequencing for successful integration of building envelope components and building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) in the field within reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, building & material science departments, as well as subcontractors to determine best practices for achieving effective weatherization, resilient design, and high thermal performance of the printed wall system.
  • Manage multiple subcontractor / consultant trades. 
  • Review consultant drawings and details for design intent and successful interface with 3D-printed wall design and construction .
  • Ability and interest to learn new means and methods of construction .
  • Ensure compliance with building, health and safety laws, codes, regulations and standards. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years hands on journeyman level carpentry / tradesmen / craftsmen experience.
  • Background and bachelors-degree in construction, architecture or industrial design related field preferred
  • Required experience with Google Suite products, Microsoft Word, AutoCAD and hand sketching
