Develop, lead and manage a high-performing Media Development Team in alignment with MIRAI’s goalsDevelop chemically defined media for the proliferation and differentiation of primary stem cellsEstablish chemical analysis techniques, targeted metabolic and cell-based bioassays to evaluate media components and develop optimized feeds during the bioprocessImplement DOE and other statistical models to define effective media formulations while reducing costsApply Quality by Design, risk assessment/prioritization to process development and characterizationDevelop predictive models of the bioprocess that are used to predict improved medium formulationsCollaborate with other teams involved in Cell Biology, Tissue Engineering, Bioprocess, Food Engineering, Scaleup, etc.Formulate, review and implement updated SOPs across the organizationLiaise with the suppliers, supply management, and regulatory teams to implement robust QA/QC of the media componentsPresent experimental summaries and workflow progression to the broader R&D team and align with senior leadership to implement critical decisionsWhat we are looking for

MS/Ph.D. in Biological or Chemical Sciences / Engineering (Ph.D. preferred)3+ years of cell culture media development experience, preferably with a leadership functionDeep knowledge of cell culture media composition, cell metabolism, analysis, and cell-media interactions are requiredFamiliarity with media component stability, safety and regulatory requirements is preferredExperience with mammalian stem cell culture in 2D and 3D Strong data management and statistical analysis skills with command over DOE, JMP, R, or Python Expertise in media development for different culture systems incl. batch, fed-batch, perfusion, and high-density cultures Demonstrated ability to build and manage a high performing team
