The opportunity
As the technical leader of our quality team, you will help define the quality requirements and process controls for our first certified aircraft, Midnight. You will help us overcome the challenge of providing airline-like levels of safety while offering urban air transportation at a price accessible to all, setting the bar for the entire nascent advanced air mobility industry. Length of contract is approximately six months.
What you’ll do
- As the lead Metrologist for Archer you will report directly to our Head of Quality, you will have the responsibility for developing and overseeing the metrology program at Archer
- Take a key role in the development and deployment of metrology tools to ensure Midnight meets design requirements.
- Lead the establishment of an aircraft inspection plan during the test phase of the program at both San Jose and Covington
- Execute / Oversee the verification process for the Midnight program incorporating risk based approach to inspection including design reviews and tolerance stack up analysis
- Lead the development and implementation of laser trackers, faro arms and other key metrology equipment
- Specific responsibilities include establishing critical wing dimensions using a laser tracker, develop a plan to use GearPro on CMMs at Archer, develop a program and train inspectors to measure key features on propellers.
- Collaborate and positively influence cross-functional teams to integrate quality into all business processes
What you need
- Knowledge of multiple metrology programs (Calypso, Metrolog, Faro) with at least 10+ years’ experience
- Experience with complex geometries, model based engineering and GDT.
- Experience with CMMs, laser trackers, broken arms and other metrology equipment
- Experience establishing quality oversight and standardizing inspection techniques
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment in aerospace or other highly regulated environments
- Knowledge of Quality Standards such as AS9100, AS9103, AS9145, and AS6500.
Bonus qualifications
- Experience with composite bonding and verification of non rigid geometries
- Experience with flight line testing and working with the FAA
- Experience with electric powertrain, gear metrology or aerospace assembly processes

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $185,000 - $210,000 annually. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
