ICON is hiring a Principal Materials Engineer, Sustainability. This is a full-time on site position based based at ICON’s Austin, TX hq campus. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the research and development efforts to identify, evaluate, and develop new materials for use in our products that meet our goals for low carbon construction
  • Lead and supervise material-specific and cross-functional teams focus R&D initiatives and continuous product improvements
  • Collaborate with product design and engineering teams to select appropriate materials for new product development
  • Collaborate with R&D, product design, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure seamless integration of materials into products
  • Collaborate on establishing strategic plans, objectives, key results and goals connected to the sustainability research
  • Conduct thorough materials testing, analysis, and characterization to ensure materials meet performance and safety standards
  • Provide expertise in materials selection, ensuring the best materials are used to meet product requirements

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

PhD. in Civil Engineering, or a related field, or a MS in Civil Engineering, or related, and 2 years of relevant experience. In each case, must also have:

  • Strong knowledge of cement hydration, admixture interaction, and rheological characterization of cement-based materials.
  • Ability to perform mix design, lab-scale testing, and field implementation of low-carbon concrete.
  • Strong knowledge in materials selection, processing, and design

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Domestic travel up to 30%.
