About Vertical
We are breaking the boundaries and pushing our commitment to the EVTOL world by changing the way the world travels. Our mission is powered by pioneers and progress is our prerogative.
Here at Vertical, we are developing the UK’s first fully electric, vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL), the VX4. With zero-operating emissions. Vertical is transforming the way people travel by offering a faster, safer, and greener way to move.
More about the team you will be joining as a Principal EWIS Engineer
The Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) team is part of Vertical's Powertrain organisation and is responsible for the design and integration of the aircraft wiring systems across the aircraft. This includes the more conventional Low Voltage systems as well as novel High Voltage systems to enable our all-electric powertrain. We work closely with our Motor, Battery and Power Distribution teams to deliver an integrated Powertrain system for our VX4 aircraft.
The team consists of highly experienced EWIS engineers from various aerospace backgrounds, bringing their knowledge and expertise together to define the best solutions for the aircraft as a whole. We work in conjunction with all aircraft systems and structural teams from initial concepts through to interface management, detailed design, harness manufacture and installation; all the way through to aircraft commissioning and flight testing.
My Impact as a Principal EWIS Engineer
The EWIS team is seeking a Principal EWIS Engineer to provide technical leadership to the team and enable a best in class EWIS design. Your role will be crucial in identifying and implementing best practice in EWIS design and ensuring that this is applied in our day to day activities.
As the Principal Engineer, and a senior technical member of the team, you will also look to the future and influence the development of the team, as well as exploring future technologies that can improve the ways that we design, build, operate and maintain our aircraft.
What success will look like for the Principal EWIS Engineer
As the Principal EWIS Engineer you will work closely with the EWIS team to support their day to day design activities and lend your knowledge and experience to help define solutions and solve problems.
Additionally you will work with our Airworthiness and Process/Methods/Tools teams to capture and document EWIS best practice into our working methods and design rules. This is a key enabler for producing a safe, high quality, repeatable and certifiable design for our product.
You will also have a key role to play in establishing the requirements and means of compliance necessary to certify EWIS for an eVTOL aircraft. This may involve liaison with external regulatory and certification bodies.
Everything sounds very interesting but how do I know this is the role for me?
