What you’ll do:
Design and develop a new airframe from concept through to critical design phase
Work with Airframe team leaders to convert airframe concept into detailed design
Apply in depth understanding of load paths, design best practices, and hand calcs to design robust structural configurations
Apply design for manufacturing concepts to create designs that are cost effective and easy to fabricate at rate. Preferred experience with composite sandwich construction, adhesive paste bonding, thermoplastics, and high rate manufacturing technologies
Develop company standards for composite and metallic part CAD models and drawings
Work closely with and mentor other engineers on the design, stress and M&P teams
Provide technical guidance on design concepts (risk vs. cost vs. performance)
Support manufacturing to validate and verify that designs meet requirements and specifications
What you need:
20+ years of experience with lightweight aircraft structures (GA, commercial, helo, space)
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field
Prior leadership within a recent aircraft certification program (civil or military)
In depth understanding of load paths, laminate design fundamentals, metallic design fundamentals
Broad experience across a range of airframe structures (fuselage, wing, pylons, empennage)
Strong CAD skills in NX (preferred), Solidworks, Catia or Creo
Familiarity with PDM systems
Experience with the manufacturing of composite and metallic parts
Experience with analyzing and dispositioning non-conformances
Knowledge of FAA aircraft certification requirements for Part 23 aircraft
Self-starter, team player, and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
Bonus Qualifications:
Master’s or PHD in aero structures related field

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $204,000.00-$255,000.00. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
