Our Mission
At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the future of electric aviation. The VX4, our electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) zero-emissions aircraft, will redefine the way we navigate the skies.
As we continue to scale from a prototype business to a high-growth SME, we are building a team of exceptional individuals who share our passion and vision to deliver the VX4 into commercial service by 2030.
What to Expect
As a Powertrain Test Technician at Vertical Aerospace, you will be at the forefront of testing and validating the advanced propulsion technologies that power the VX4. This is a highly hands-on role, requiring a blend of mechanical and electrical expertise to support the development of cutting-edge electric and hybrid systems. You will work closely with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams to ensure test rigs and subsystems are built, commissioned, and maintained to the highest standards.
What You’ll Do
Perform mechanical and electrical component fitting in accordance with engineering drawings and build plans.
Support the build, test, commissioning, and maintenance of sub-assemblies and full rig systems, including both low and high voltage components.
Ensure all build documentation is completed accurately and maintained appropriately.
Maintain high standards of tool cleanliness, organisation, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention throughout labs, workshops, and machine rooms.
Support rig testing and troubleshooting activities during development.
Be flexible to work shift patterns or additional hours during periods of high demand.
What You’ll Bring
Strong working knowledge of high voltage systems, wiring harnesses, and build techniques including crimping and soldering.
Hands-on experience in building and wiring electrical control cabinets.
Experience working with Dynos or similar test systems.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
A collaborative and proactive attitude, with a willingness to support other teams and departments when required.
A safety-first mindset, applying previous experience to help enhance existing Health, Safety and Environmental practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Desirable
Recognised vocational qualification or apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering.
Previous experience working in a high-tech R&D or prototyping environment.
Familiarity with aerospace, automotive, or related industries is a plus.
