We are currently seeking a Powertrain Systems Engineer with key focus in areas of electric motor, transmission. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
· California (Bay Area) - $104,000-$143,000
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The Role:Lead EOL (End of Line) analysis efforts to ensure highest quality of DUTs (DriveUnits) produced Root cause analysis of equipment and DUT failure modes Develop data analytics tools for test data processing Collaborate with manufacturing teams in implementing continual improvements of EOL SW and HW Develop Design of Experiments methods to advance efficient learning of DUT systems Review and implement new EOL concepts Develop and document processes of DUT manufacturing steps to enable scalability Analyze and harness field data, test data, simulation data, to identify opportunities for product quality improvement in areas of electric motors, transmission, driveline, motor controls, vehicle controls, motor cooling and lubrication Perform functional analysis, detail trade studies, interface definition studies Develop broad systems engineering expertise and deep product knowledge Come up with experiments and test plan to characterize individual components performance
Qualifications:Deep understanding of the fundamentals of transmissions, electric machines, and electric vehicle powertrains Experience with modeling in MATLAB, scripting and analyzing large data sets Ability to work cross functionally between hardware, software, test, and manufacturing teams Excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical environments. A systems and big picture view of hardware – software interactions A flair for creative engineering and problem solving. 0 to 2 years of experience with manufacturing, system modelling, powertrain product development, powertrain controls, testing in automotive, aviation, aerospace, or similar industries
Preferred:Additional fields of experience (manufacturing, structural statics/dynamics, electromagnetics, material science, vehicle thermal system). Experience of electric vehicle drivetrain product design. Experience of thermal and mechanical analysis. Experience of CAD (and preferably CATIA). Experience with Python, SQL.
Education:BS (and preferably MS) in ME/EE discipline.
