Power Electronics Engineer Internship

Our Mission

At Span, we are building products to enable the rapid adoption of renewable energy. As more distributed energy resources like solar and storage come onto the grid, it’s increasingly important to be able to improve the technology that sits between the grid, the home, and those distributed energy resources. Span’s smart panel replaces the electrical panel to become the center for connected power in the home.  With Span, homeowners receive all the safety features of a standard panel with revolutionary insights and edge-of-grid controls through our mobile app.

The Role

We are seeking an aspiring power electronics intern with a passion for renewable energy. In our growing power electronics team, your role will be to assist in our testing and integration of our partner’s current and upcoming residential power systems. This role will present many opportunities to gain experience with current power electronics topologies as well as experience with the development of new distinct architectures designed to be at the forefront of the industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and test of
• Optimize power systems designs and parts
• Assist in the design of modeling infrastructure crucial for future development
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, controls, and pcb layout teams

About You

            Required Qualifications

We are seeking a power electronics intern who has:

• Pursuing a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical degree)
• Relevant course and lab work in electrical engineering
• Hands-on hardware design experience
• Capable of working across several cross functional areas and collaborating with different engineering disciplines

            Bonus Qualifications

We would love to hire someone who has:

• Experience with schematic capture tools such as Altium Designer
• Experience with simulation tools (LTSpice, Matlab, Simulink)
• Familiarity with EE lab tools (Oscilloscopes, Power Analyzers, Multimeter, Signal Generators)
• Knowledge of basic inverter and converter topologies
