Role Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a Policy Manager to lead Form Energy’s regulatory, state agency, legislative, and wholesale market advocacy efforts in California, and potentially other states in the West, to ensure that multi-day storage is woven into all state plans to achieve a zero carbon electric grid. You’ll be responsible for securing incentives, procurement programs, and changes to market designs to support Form Energy’s commercial goals through your own individual work and by building and managing a local team of policy professionals. The policy advocacy work you will oversee in California will include direct advocacy, coalition building, partnerships with trade organizations, and thought leadership, focused initially in California. This multifaceted role is an opportunity to build upon your policy successes and network in California and other western states to become a leading voice helping the state chart a course to a clean electric grid.
Although this role will focus primarily on California initially, you will play an important role in developing new policy proposals and strategies that influence Form Energy’s advocacy efforts nationally. You will also have an opportunity to expand geographic coverage to other states in the West, in partnership with policy team leadership, as our business needs evolve and opportunities arise. This role will also involve hiring and managing local lobbyists and consultants, as needed, and helping to define regional team resource needs to respond to new opportunities.
This position will report to the Senior Manager, Policy and Regulatory Affairs, while working in close collaboration with Form’s commercial, analytics, product and communications teams. This role will be based in Form’s Berkeley, CA, office. Title and compensation will be based on experience.

Extensive knowledge of California’s electric sector policy landscape, including deep knowledge of the state’s political dynamics and relationships with key stakeholdersDemonstrated track record of having a leadership role in successful efforts to secure notable policy changes related to clean energy in both regulatory and legislative contextsDemonstrated ability to lead high-level, high-stakes engagements with senior officials, environmental NGOs, industry representatives and other key stakeholdersWorking knowledge of the analytical tools used in electric resource planning and reliability studies, and ability to critically evaluate the inputs and outputs of such analysis to inform advocacy effortsKeen strategic capacity, and an ability to quickly refine ideas and strategies in response to changing technical, policy, or political considerationsResourcefulness and a track record of being a successful team player capable of collaborating with multiple cross-functional teams in a fast-paced working environment.Clear, concise, and engaging verbal and written communicationExperience navigating ambiguity and thriving in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly and flexibility and adaptability are a mustDrive, organization, creativity, and a collaborative, generous spirit 8+ years of professional experience in climate policy, advocacy or campaigns, and at least 2 years managing or supervising direct reports, preferred.Advanced degree in policy, economics or law in areas related to energy and climate preferred, or comparable substantive experience
