Plastics Technician (1st shift)

Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.&nbsp;</p></div><p><strong>Job Summary: </strong>The injection molding process technician will support injection mold activity in the Normal Facility from initial mold tryout pre-production, through mass production. Mold support activity will include troubleshooting equipment &amp; mold issues, mold changeovers, machine adjustments, and process monitoring.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Assist engineers in mold tuning and homeline development</li> <li>Ensure proper startup and shutdown of machines</li> <li>Ensure injection molding process is in accordance with approved procedures and process limits</li> <li>Adjust process parameters to ensure dimensional and visual quality is adhered to</li> <li>Mold changeover and initial part setup</li> <li>Ensure first, middle, last piece part quality</li> <li>Work alongside production, quality, and engineering to ensure quality parts are delivered to customer (assembly) in a timely manner</li> <li>Diagnose vehicle issues&nbsp;​</li> <li>Determine correct course of action for issues that arise&nbsp;​</li> <li>Coordinate with Quality and Process ENG to implement&nbsp;solutions&nbsp;​</li> <li>Establish timelines for repair and impact to production&nbsp;​</li> <li>Support repair with other technicians and relevant partners&nbsp;and test/assess efficacy of repair​</li> <li>Communicate recurring issues and actively support&nbsp;continuous improvement around station problem solving&nbsp;​</li> <li>Help build capability around SME and problem solving in other Techs and Team Members&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Knowledge &amp; Skill</strong></p> <ul> <li>Multi-Cavity Injection Molds</li> <li>Takeout Robot programming</li> <li>Mold Changeovers</li> <li>Strong communication skills to varying groups</li> <li>Have subject matter expertise and deep understanding of&nbsp;their station – all standard work, machinery, parts, and the&nbsp;support members involved&nbsp;​</li> <li>Be knowledgeable of safety protocols and reporting, MES&nbsp;operations (Andon) and shop floor management&nbsp;​</li> <li>Problem Solving SME&nbsp;​</li> <li>Station SME – knows how to resolve and trouble shoot most&nbsp;common issues&nbsp;​</li> <li>Know basic diagnosis and associated workflows</li> </ul><div class="content-conclusion"><h4>Equal Opportunity</h4> <p>Rivian is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
