Do your life’s best work and enjoy the journey.
Get to show that big things are possible in Europe when you assemble the best talent.
YOUR IMPACT
We are seeking an experienced Plasma Diagnostics Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will design the first plasma diagnostics systems for Alpha from conceptual design to detailed design and bring systems to the commissioning stage. By interfacing with other design teams, you are making sure that the right design trade-offs are made, and Alpha will be robustly diagnosed.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in building the diagnostic capabilities of Alpha and contribute to the next generation of data acquisition from the world's most advanced stellarator.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Be part of a new plasma diagnostics team at Proxima Fusion.
Conceptualize and detail diagnostic designs, including designing the overall system and components in CAD.
Prototype, test, validate, and iterate diagnostic solutions.
Commission diagnostics on the machine and troubleshoot operational issues.
Work in close collaboration with the integrated stellarator design team and the data acquisition team to determine the right overall design trade-offs.
Apply learning from diagnostics on existing machines and work together with Proxima Fusion's academic partners.
WHO YOU ARE
Strong experience in hands-on operation (including major upgrades) or development of at least 3 different prominent plasma diagnostics for magnetic fusion devices.
Have successfully commissioned at least one plasma diagnostic system on a magnetic confinement device.
Have designed the key components of at least one key diagnostic device for a magnetic confinement machine.
Have comprehensive knowledge of a set of key plasma diagnostics. Knowledge, or ideally experience, of plasma diagnostics design for neutron irradiated environments is desirable.
Are proficient in common CAD programs, preferably CATIA.
Are confident in programming with Python or have shown an affinity for code-based workflows.
