As a Plant Sanitation Supervisor, you will develop, implement, and continuously improve on sanitation programs, policies, procedures and established key performance indicators (KPIs) for the facility. This position reports to the Quality Manager and directs internal and external cleaning and sanitation personnel. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains the master and routine cleaning schedule for the plant according to GMP and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoots sanitation issues to identify deficiencies in sanitation program or facility/equipment design, and generates corrective actions as needed. 
  • Ensures the facility is in proper sanitary condition at all times and complies with all food safety policies and procedures.
  • A leader in enforcing a strong GMP culture
  • Assess and mitigate food safety risks associated with construction, new equipment, and major maintenance.
  • Maintains and writes detailed SSOPs for areas within the facility.  
  • Partners with the microbiology team to continuously improve sanitation procedures and techniques. 
  • Partners with the quality team to validate cleanings
  • Supports quality in sanitation validations and audits in compliance with SQF standards
  • Develops and implements all sanitation related training for sanitation and plant employees as needed.
  • Engages internal technical experts, industry experts, and chemical/equipment suppliers to troubleshoot sanitation challenges and implement new technologies/methodologies that improve sanitation effectiveness.
  • Coordinates and prepares facilities for internal and third-party audits annually or as needed.
  • Ensures all safety requirements related to sanitation are met including proper chemical storage, SDS, PPE, and procedures.
  • Effectively supervises, mentors, and coaches’ employees.
  • Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years sanitation experience in food manufacturing.
  • Experience participating in SQFcertification/recertification.
  • Experience directing 3rd parties and vendors.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing and Safety Procedures.
  • Should be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.
