Planetary Geoscientist

ICON is looking for a Planetary Geoscientist  to assist ICON’s growing Olypmus team in their R&D efforts. As the Planetary Geoscientist at ICON, you will be responsible for owning and managing the processes and procedures to completion that we need to further ICON’s mission to advance humanity with our technology. This role will report to the Director of Off-Planet Systems out of ICONS Austin, TX campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prescribe features of lunar and martian regolith simulants for various research efforts.
• Procure regolith simulants.
• Manage with the production from conception to delivery.
• Interface with customers (internal / external) and vendors to assure fitness of purpose.
• Validate regolith simulants.

• Work with mechanical engineers on geotechnical implications of regolith features for various robotic applications.
• Design and qualify both regolith and simulant conveyance systems.
• Conduct DOEs on derived regolith products.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in ISRU, Geology, or other related field. 

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
