Responsibilities:
Research Understand the market offering, benchmarking the interior and exterior of competitor designs using both physical assessments and A2Mac1 to provide insights and guidance for existing and new Arrival product conceptsPropose Create and maintain target documents such as a gap plan to define critical interface section development through the programs, ensuring targets are class-leading and achievableCollaborate with Industrial Design to ensure the product vision is understood and protected through the engineering phase, provide feedback to ensure the concept is robust and repeatable for manufactureDevelop Work closely alongside Engineering teams, bringing them together with other relevant cross functional stakeholders to represent the attribute, negotiate and resolve concerns that affect the perception of qualityValidate Use 3D data and visualisation skills to take sections, create rendered models, demonstrate different engineering routes and assess the options from the user’s perspective using virtual reality & prototypesResolve Identify, raise & help to prioritise issues from the start of the design process all the way into productionExpertise:
Advanced knowledge of designing and engineering for perceived qualityExperience developing interface standards to control gap & flush on automotive/ large/ complex productsDeveloping sensory targets with an understanding of how customer perception can be quantifiedUnderstanding of the dimensional engineering process; locator strategies, GD&T, DVA statistical analysisKnowledge of materials, colour and finishes, manufacture process advantages and limitationsExperience of Teamcenter, VisPro, Siemens NX, VRed, Jira, Wiki, & Airtable are beneficialGood attention to detail, creative problem solving but also use of analytical skills to lead resolution of technical issuesStrong leadership skills, capable of interfacing with cross functional teams such as design, engineering & manufactureAdaptive, flexible & comfortable in a fast paced environment.
