CFS is seeking an experienced quality inspector to lead inspection and test activities for the SPARC
project, during the PASY (pre-assembly) phase of the program. You will perform daily inspections on
precision components using a variety of advanced inspection tools, working closely with the SPARC
engineering team to ensure design intent is upheld. This is an exciting and challenging role for a
candidate who is able to think quickly and creatively about advanced mechanical inspections with
minimal supervision or definition.

This team member will:

  • Conduct dimensional inspection of high precision components and assemblies
  • Execute inspections to required accuracy
  • Prepare and document detailed inspection reports and non-conformances
  • Support other mechanical testing and welding inspection needs as required
  • Review blueprints and documentation to ensure appropriate materials are used and specifications are followed
  • Interface with technicians on issues related to quality and help them in understanding and interpreting quality specifications and technical drawings
  • Develop creative inspection techniques and fixturing as required with the assistance of quality engineering to deliver innovative measurement solutions to the PASY team
  • Serve as a metrology subject matter expert for the PASY operation for SPARC
  • In coordination with the quality engineering team, ensure that measurements are qualified using appropriate statistical techniques and tools
  • Work with quality engineering personnel, establish SOP’s and work instructions for developed techniques
  • The ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • GD&T Training
  • 5+ years of experience in advanced mechanical inspections
  • Proficiency in interpretation and usage of ASME Y14.5 (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance)
  • The ability to set up, maintain, and use varieties of inspection hand tools (caliper, micrometer, bore gages, rings & plug gages, profilometer, coating thickness gage, comparator, sine bar, etc.)
  • CMM, Romer Arm, etc
  • Additional experience and/or qualifications:

  • Experience in Aerospace or Automotive industry
  • Zeiss Calypso programming experience
  • Polyworks experience
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs
  • Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
  • Perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally
