Your role and your team:

  • As Operational Suitability (OSD) Manager in Lilium, including the role as Designated Airworthiness Engineer according Part 21, you will coordinate the development of Operational Suitability Data (OSD) and work with EASA, FAA and other authorities to ensure their timely approval, to support Type Certification and usage of OSD by operators and training organisations.​
  • You will be the main interface for the relevant stakeholders, and thus some knowledge of the domain (e.g. Aircraft Maintenance, Maintenance Training and MMEL) is essential. You will coordinate with Lilium internal specialists (e.g. SMEs - Subject Matter Experts) as well as our partner organisations in the development of the OSD content.​
  • Your role will be part of the Office of Airworthiness, while your tasks will strongly connect you to other departments such as Commercial, Systems Engineering, Safety, Maintainability, Flight Test, and others.

Your Tasks and Day-to-Day:

  • Oversee, manage and support the development and certification of OSD (Operational Suitability Data) with focus on the domains Flight Crew Data (FCD) and Simulation Data (SIMD)
  • Lead certification activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and be technical focal for certification issues relating to OSD
  • Coordinate and lead activities in the respective OSD constituents with Airworthiness Authorities (EASA, FAA and others)
  • Build the team and organisational structures (communication, documentation) for OSD activities
  • Apply project management methods and ensure compliance with the OSD processes
  • Provide specialist knowledge and input to engineering and development activities regarding OSD
  • Support the timely achievement approval of OSD through identification of technical and organisational issues and associated risk management, identification of regulation and interpretation issues, in coordination with design teams, specialists, CVEs, Chief Engineer and Training Organisations.
  • Contribute to the definition of policies for the discipline and promote their application across the development lifecycle.
  • Prepare for and support audits in the OSD domain, e.g. EASA DOA audits or internal ISM audits
  • Represent the company in meetings with authorities as well as taking part in international working groups and committees such as Eurocae, ASTM, GAMA and others

Your Profile:

  • A team player, able to work in complex environment effectively, with cross-functional teams in a matrix organisation​
  • University degree in aviation or equivalent, ​
  • or long-term experience in Commercial or General Aviation, Flight Operations, Flight Crew Training, Flight Simulation or similar​
  • Good knowledge in Commercial or General Aviation, in domains such as Flight Operations, Flight Crew Training, Flight Simulation or similar​
  • Experience in development and/or operation of flight simulators is a plus​
  • a private or commercial pilot license or in addition FI / SFI / TRI are a plus​
  • Excellent decision making, negotiation and organisational skills​
  • Skills and experience in project management​
  • Prepared to work hours to suit certification projects and activities as required​
  • Ability to support occasional national and international travel at short notice​
  • Confident in delivering technical information in presentations​
  • Experience in application of OSD and operational elements in an aircraft OEM environment (preferred)​
  • Knowledge of OSD requirement and/or experience in OSD generation (preferred)​
  • Experience in interfacing with Aviation Authorities (preferred)​
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, Fluent German or any other language would be beneficial
