Responsibilities

  1. Lead a team of Team Members, Team Leads and Group Leads during the assembling of prototype vehicles.
  2. Ensure safety for their team and anyone in their work areas.
  3. Coordinate with stakeholders, upstream and downstream in the product life cycle:
    1. Align schedules with key teams such as Product Launch, Project Management, etc. for the receiving and finishing of new builds.
    2. Coordinate with Manufacturing and Production Engineering, as well as General Assembly for training and information sharing related to new models coming to production.
    3. In conjunction with the appropriate players, utilize tools such as Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Job Observation, etc., for the improving of new vehicles design and assembly processes.
    4. Organize efforts to identify and collect key data on metrics related to ease of manufacturing, assembly cycle times, assembly sequence, etc.
  4. Grow team in technical skills and leadership by providing opportunities for formal training, as well as daily coaching and mentoring.
  5. Work with EHS to continually monitor and improve the safety conditions in their areas of responsibility.
  6. Lead efforts to implement and maintain 5S in all areas of supervision.
  7. Provide status reports during daily meetings, as needed.
  8. Other tasks as assigned by their Sr. Manager.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  1. A 4-year college degree, and/or 10+ years of hands-on experience.
  2. Previous automotive production aptitude a strong plus.
  3. Expertise in General Assembly, as well as the Vehicle Prototype (VP) Line strongly desirable.
  4. Proficiency with multiple vehicle models (e.g., R1, EDV, etc.) a strong plus.
