As an intern in our Biotech R&D team you will work together with Scientists and Research Associates. Tasks could include plasmid construction, bacterial and fungal transformation, culturing, DNA quality control, next generation sequencing analysis, transformant screening, genetic part characterization, preparing buffer and media, stocking consumables, etc.
This job will be on site in Chicago, IL.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Work directly with the Biotech R&D team, conducting laboratory-based research work using microbiology and molecular approachesConduct bench-top work, analyze, summarize and present scientific outcomesProvide accurate, clear, and concise reports and documentation on R&D activitiesRole Requirements:
Currently pursuing a Bachelors in Synthetic Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Laboratory Automation, Chemical Engineering, or a related field and completed at least two years or pursuing a graduate degree in a relevant filedPrevious hands-on experience with basic molecular and/or microbiology techniquesFamiliarity with Microsoft Office suite of programs including excelStrong organizational, time management, record keeping, and prioritization skillsIndependent, hard-working, and highly self-motivatedExcellent communication and interpersonal relationship skillsDesire to work in a team and assist other team membersExhibit a strong sense of professional and personal integrityInherent curiosity and creativity in solving problems to understand how things workAbility to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive informationAwareness of safety issues in the work environmentCommitment To Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, And Belonging:
