About this internship

The cell line generation intern will be responsible for developing new tools and establishing non-model cell lines under the direction of the Discovery- Madison team. This laboratory based position requires performing molecular biology and cell biology assay on a daily basis, followed by analysis and interpretation of the data, presentation of findings to the Discovery - Madison Team, and suggestion of follow-up experiments. You should be creative, enthusiastic, and a self-manager.

Duites include

• Cell culture techniques including isolations, transfections and selections
• Molecular biology (vector construction, PCR, qPCR)
• Immunostaining development
• Analyze, synthesize, and present data to the research team and make recommendations for future research
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists
• Maintains laboratory notebook with detailed experiments and results
• Write, review and support continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures and helping to develop a Quality Management System

About you

• Last year in Bachelor's Program, or Masters student in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Bioprocessing, or related field
• Excellent aseptic technique for cell culture
• Ability to read and interpret scientific literature
• Ability to independently troubleshoot molecular biology and cell culture protocols
• Detail-oriented, with excellent data collection and recording for experimental design and results 
• Flexibility to work weekends or late shifts to support cell culture as needed
• Mission-driven, self-directed with a strong work ethic
• Demonstrable ability to adhere to ambitious timelines
• Flexibility and willingness to expand skill set and responsibilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, and time-management skills 

Length of internship

• 10 - 12 weeks
