As a Mechanical Engineering Intern
Interns in this pipeline may be considered for opportunities across a range of teams within the following teams:
Body Structures: Develop the next-generation of mobility by working on vehicle systems such as body safety structure, exterior aesthetic components, and electro-mechanisms, involving engineering design, validation, testing, and concept fabrication.
Manufacturing Prototyping: Develop automated CNC part programming solutions by working collaboratively with Mechanical Prototype Engineering and Fabrication teams.
Serviceability: Support design assessments, inspection and maintenance, tooling development, and repair procedure validation.
Infotainment and Sensing: Support simulation and validation tasks for mechanical sensor structures and define cleanability tests. Note: This specific opportunity is a 6-month internship.
Compensation:
The monthly salary range for this position is $6,500 to $9,500. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level of education. Additional benefits may include medical insurance, and a housing stipend (relocation assistance will be offered based on eligibility).

Program Requirements
Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S., or other advanced degree in a relevant engineering field.Plan to return to school after completing the internship.Maintain good academic standing.Available to commit to either a 12-week summer internship (May or June 2026 start) or a 6-month co-op.At least one prior industry internship, co-op, or relevant project experience.Willing and able to relocate to the Bay Area, California, for the duration of the internship.Interns may not use proprietary Zoox information in university theses, publications, or share it outside of Zoox.Qualifications
Foundational understanding of mechanical design principles such as: GD&T, prototyping, design-for-manufacturability (DFM), design-for-servicability (DFS), and design-for-assembly (DFA)Experience with CATIA V5/V6 or similar CAD softwareBasic understanding of quality control, process optimization, and yield analysisAbility to identify appropriate test assets, data acquisition systems, and perform data analysisBonus Qualifications
