What you will do:
As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will primarily contribute to the development of the company’s novel electrochemical cells through design and experimentation. In this role you will:
- Design and build novel electrochemical cells, stacks, and test systems
- Develop and test materials and manufacturing processes with an emphasis on data-driven results and product scalability
- Prepare detailed drawings for components manufactured in-house and through vendors
- Perform validation testing of the design, operation, and performance of electrochemical cells and stacks
- Work closely with the Electrochemical Development & Test team to support continuous improvement to existing cell architectures
What we need you to bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field of study; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
- 3+ years of related mechanical design experience
- Excellent knowledge of DFSS and DFM principles
- Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD Systems (such as SolidWorks/AutoDesk/Creo) for design, documentation, and fabrication
- The ability to adapt, build, and refine or innovate testing and prototyping setups
- Excellent data collection, reduction, and analysis skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead a multidisciplinary engineering project
- Experience or the desire to be in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
What we want you to bring to the team:
- A Master’s degree in a related engineering field.
- Experience working with multicell electrochemical stacks or strings
- Experience designing with materials for aggressive media or corrosive liquids
- Hands-on experience in design verification, validation and ASTM testing standards
- Excellent project management skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- A critical thinking mindset and focus on finding answers
- A safety-first mindset; share potential risks with others before they result in hazardous outcomes
- A desire to challenge yourself and take on increasing responsibilities as the company grows
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand/sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to operate the following equipment and tools: Drill Press, Band Saw, and Circular Saw
Compensation:
- The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $90,000-$105,000 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
