What you’ll do:

  • Source laboratory equipment and supplies
  • Manage facilities coordination of laboratory equipment, ongoing preventative maintenance, calibrations and inspections
  • Maintain project schedule of testing to support cross functional organizations
  • Manage laboratory technicians
  • Support product development by conducting lab experiments to support programs for structural composites and adhesive materials and processes (M&P)
  • Support in-house research and test plans, conduct tests on candidate materials, processes and equipment, and generate detailed reports on test results 
  • Material forecasting and project management support
  • Learn about material qualification, testing and allowables development for composite materials
  • Maintain expertise in industry material trends, testing equipment, and techniques

What you need:

  • 10+ years of experience across a broad range of some of the following:
    • Aerospace Adhesives and Secondary Bonding 
    • Composites Fabrication Processes
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with material characterization and testing
  • Hands on experience with some of the following preferred:
    • Polymer based composites
    • Structural paste and film adhesives
    • Surface prep for bonding
    • Machining test coupons and laminates 
    • Material testing and characterization
    • Composite repair
    • Flammability testing
    • Metallographic sample preparation
    • Microscopy for composites and metallics
    • Experience evaluating welded interfaces and preparing cross sections
  • Knowledge of standard test methods for metals, composite and adhesive materials, including analyzing and interpreting results
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including written technical reports 
  • Experience in solving problems and developing necessary data to support a manufacturing setting
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other engineering groups to define requirements, develop, qualify and implement manufacturing process specifications
