About this job

The Manufacturing Technician I/II will be responsible for general upkeep of the technology development space and will work with the team to clean, setup, and maintain a number of pilot scale and bench scale bioreactors including several with novel designs. This position will be primarily a laboratory wet-bench environment where you will be required to stand and do manual labor for long periods of time. You will also maintain, calibrate and provide on the floor support for several pieces of shared analytical equipment. This role will work cross functionally with the Manufacturing Operations group. To accelerate the pace of our learning, this role is expected to routinely shift time from a daytime weekday schedule in order to perform work on weekday evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities include… 

• Setup, clean, and maintain both suspension and adherent bioreactors including some of novel design
• Clean and organize the technology development space
• Maintain and calibrate shared analytical equipment.
• Sample and operate bioreactors and input results into database
• Maintain stocks of commonly used items in the technology development space

About you…

• 1+ years of bioprocess operations experience, preferably in industry, but academic setting considered.
• Excellent knowledge of basic safety, good laboratory practices and aseptic technique.
• Must be comfortable working independently and on a team.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
• Able to stand for prolonged periods of time
• Able to work weekends
• Able to follow SOPs and process documents

Who you’ll work with…

• While we expect growth in all functions in the next 1-2 years, this role will most frequently interact with our R&D and Tech Ops teams.

Key Contributions in First Year…

• Learn to clean, setup, and maintain the novel bioreactors in the technology development space
• Learn to sample and operate novel bioreactors during experiments
• Develop a maintenance and calibration system for the shared analytical equipment
