ICON is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our manufacturing team. As a Manufacturing Engineer at ICON, you'll perform daily tasks as well as strategic planning that support the manufacturing of our products safely, efficiently and reliably. Our ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills. This position reports to our Director of Manufacturing at our Austin, TX factory.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate and develop manufacturing processes by researching best practices; applying knowledge of product design; fabrication and assembly process, tooling and fixture design and applications, materials, and quality control standards.
  • Standardize processes to ensure manufacturability of product.
  • Engage with product engineering during the design cycle to ensure design for manufacturability. 
  • Establishment of in-house manufacturing capabilities in a wide range of aspects, including work instructions, facility layout, assembly line flow, capacity analysis, and equipment selection.
  • Partner with manufacturing technicians to ensure feedback is received and process improvements are implemented.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and support the development of timely corrective solutions. 
  • Assist in the management of various manufacturing bill of materials.
  • Provide on-the-floor troubleshooting, process evaluation, and manufacturing support in a fast-paced environment.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related technical fields.
  • 5+ years' experience working in a manufacturing or construction environment.
  • Experience working with new product introductions, manufacturing, or supply chain, with experience transition products from prototype to production release.
  • Experience with design and manufacturing of large and/or mobile machinery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of component manufacturing processes, including welding, fabrication, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Proficiency using a parametric solid modeling and CAD software, SolidWorks preferred. 
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to use first principles creatively to solve a wide range of problems.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts in to an easy to follow process.
  • Flexible, ability to work in a fast pace constantly changing environment with long hours and tight deadlines.
