About the Role

Electric utilities design major EV programs in line with legislative and regulatory directives and in consultation with their respective regulators. In this role, you will shape and execute our strategy to accelerate EV adoption and enable cost-effective EV programs for our utility customers. 

This role will be focused on policy and regulatory strategy in the Eastern United States while working hand-in-hand with the business’s leaders to inform WeaveGrid’s strategy and sales priorities. Success in this role will enable a long-term, sustainable pathway for WeaveGrid’s growth. This role will report to the Sr. Director of Market Development and work closely with the business development and the utility solutions team members supporting the region.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and execute WeaveGrid’s policy and regulatory strategy for the U.S. East region 
  • Build external alliances and recognize opportunities for the company to build key relationships across stakeholders 
  • Write and submit comments for utility regulatory proceedings
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and other convenings as a representative of WeaveGrid
  • Research key regulatory developments to inform business strategy with an outlook of 2-3 years, and conversely, find avenues to influence policy and rule-, and rate-making per the company’s long-term objectives
  • Research detailed regulatory filings, state-level policies, and competitive landscapes to track and support market and business development
  • Collaborate with the business development team to support beneficial outcomes and secure regulatory approval
  • Assist the business development team in creating high-quality presentation materials on policy outcomes for important utility-client meetings
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for formal and informal influence in the industry and regulatory realm

You know how to translate key details in a complex policy, filing, or other proceedings into actionable recommendations for our team. You’ve enjoyed working in a fast-paced environment at a high-growth company that thrives on a collaborative attitude, both internally and externally.

Qualifications 

  • BA/BS, or equivalent experience, in law, social sciences, or engineering Preferred: MPA/Masters, JD, or equivalent experience, with focus on energy policy regulations
  • 5+ years of full-time experience in directly relevant policy and regulatory affairs for electric utilities and/or grid operations
  • Significant domain expertise through industry experience in one or several of the following areas: electric mobility, power systems, grid modernization, public utility regulation
  • Proven skill set for: in-depth analysis of energy policy, regulatory writing, and/or local legislative lobbying
  • Existing network among stakeholders in electric transportation, demand-side management, and/or grid modernization is preferred
  • Demonstrated track record of empathetic leadership, individual initiative, a spirit of inquiry, and solutions-orientation
  • Aptitude to think, communicate, and execute strategically and tactically
  • High attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent work ethic
  • Functions effectively under time pressure
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with diverse teams internally and externally and translate between various areas of expertise
  • Propensity towards remote work with the ability to travel as needed
  • Special projects and other duties as designated by your manager or assigned designee.


The total compensation for this opportunity includes a base salary range of $140,000-$160,000, plus equity (stock options) and benefits. This is our target compensation range and is subject to multiple factors including role, level, experience, and location. As you go through our interview process, our recruiter will work with you to identify a competitive base salary within the proposed range and combine it with an equity package to get you excited about your future at WeaveGrid.
