We are currently seeking a Manager, Indirect Tax. This position requires an experienced professional with strong technical knowledge to manage Lucid’s indirect tax compliance, accounting and reporting processes. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
We expect tax managers to partner with multiple stakeholders to provide timely analysis, insightful guidance, and tax leadership to help secure the success of the company and ensure Lucid’s tax position is optimized and that we maintain good standing across all tax jurisdictions that we operate.

As part of the Global Finance and Accounting teams based in Newark, California (our Global HQ) you will support Lucid’s business leaders and stakeholders with rapid expansion globally, day-to-day support of our domestic and international operations, and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:
Preparation and review of monthly indirect tax calculation, reconciliations of related general ledger tax accounts, and filing of periodic indirect tax compliance and property tax returns Manage indirect tax compliance for growing portfolio of companies and work with external advisors to ensure all compliance obligations are met on a timely basisWork closely and proactively within Global Finance/Accounting, and serve as a key liaison between numerous functional teams to advise managers and internal partners on the technical requirements related to indirect tax mattersSelf-starter with ability to work independently while understanding the importance of elevating questions/concerns promptlyPartner closely with all internal stakeholders and operating teams to provide clear tax inputs and provide guidance on operational decisions and drive process improvementsSupport the commercial business and logistics function, assist with one-off assignments and projects such as setting-up systems and processes to meet new tax authority reporting requirements, or act as key point of contact to the business in terms of matters such commercial contracts and new business opportunitiesIdentify tax risks and opportunities within indirect tax area, work seamlessly and collaboratively as a tax advisor to provide strategic and tactical advice/feedback to multiple internal business stakeholders, and propose practical, business-minded solutionsAssist with the design, implementation, execution and maintenance of tax processes and controlsManage indirect tax controversies including audits, notices and VDAsQualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; Advanced degree in accounting and/or tax (MST, LLM) is a plusAt least 6 years of indirect tax technical experience in sales & use tax, VAT/GST and property tax“Big 4” background is highly preferredArmed with a passion for tax technical knowledge, ability to analyze and review statutes, regulations, and case law and provide clear and concise tax advice to the wider business team and make appropriate recommendations, including both strategic matters such as reviewing commercial contracts and also practical matters such as moving goods between countries, and proposed multi-state and international tax legislationAbility to handle complex tax issues/projects in a multi-tasking environment, as well as interact and communicate with individuals/groups at all levels within the organization, to include supporting strategic initiatives, audit responses, performing quantitative analysis, designing, developing, executing process improvements, modeling for proposed transactions or planning initiatives Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with a high degree of autonomy and accountability for resultsAbility to think strategically and communicate effectively with all levels of managementAbility to be collaborative and comfortable dealing with ambiguity, influencing across multiple organizations, creating effective internal business partnershipsDemonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including persuasive written and oral communication skillsMay require up to 10% international travelDue to the global nature of Lucid’s business and inherent time difference, the successful applicant will need to have the flexibility to work across time zones
