About the company:

Doing something different is never easy. It requires courage, optimism and grit. Core to our mission is building a team of adventurous individuals determined to make a positive impact on the world. This means challenging ourselves constantly. Stretching beyond the bounds of conventional thinking. Reframing old problems. Seeking new solutions. And operating comfortably in a space of uncertainty. While our backgrounds are diverse, our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations. Do you like doing the impossible? We’d love to hear from you.

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary:

You will be responsible for supporting Rivian’s global fleet of vehicles by managing a framework of compliance and audit operations, including a team of Fleet Auditors.  Our fleet of over 1,000 vehicles is growing quickly in conjunction with our business, and this position will help the company balance growth with a platform of systems and processes which isolates employees and the company from risk.  The fleet includes flatbed trucks, prototypes, service loaners, demo drive vehicles and more operated by employees and third parties with varying levels of experience, primarily in North America.

Qualified candidates will possess significant experience with large fleet operations and the associated regulatory framework.  This is a fast-paced, dynamic role that requires effective communication skills to convey Fleet Audit and Compliance topics to cross-functional stakeholders, effective KPI development and visual communication skills, a solution-oriented personality, and ability to adapt to quickly changing business needs.

  • Manage an operational infrastructure which effectively monitors policy compliance, HOS and DOT violations, and investigates accidents and incidents.
  • Represent Rivian both internally and externally as the authority on Compliance and collaborate effectively cross-functionally.
  • Oversee and continuously refine the internal audit process to ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Manage a team of Fleet Auditors who coordinate daily Compliance and Audit activity.
  • Develop policies and procedures to equip fleet with any equipment, signage, or other documentation to support safety practices and Compliance.
  • Oversee and continuously refine a framework of reporting which communicates Compliance and Audit performance.
  • Coordinate and support training to educate employees on policies and procedures, best practices, and supporting compliance tools.
  • Support expansion outside of North America as a Compliance and Audit consultant and partner; specific expertise is preferred but not required.
  • Develop effective software tools to support Compliance and Audit operations.
  • Maintain and refine a data storage framework in support of record keeping needs.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance processes, applications, permits, and documentation for government agencies and programs, including CMV, DOT, FMCSA; State Autonomous Vehicle and Autonomous Vehicle Tester Programs and Advanced Driving Support Systems (ADAS).
  • Coordinate programs to ensure all drivers are within government and company requirements to operate company vehicles, including prototypes as well as active fleet.
  • This is a remote position, however 5-10% travel is required to attend meetings and support remote operations.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience within fleet management and regulatory compliance.
  • Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT, FMSCA, and CMV.  Expertise with international regulations is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate Compliance and Audit activity to cross-functional stakeholders without subject matter expertise.
  • Capability of thinking with extreme attention to detail, creating well-structured processes and platforms that provide foundational support to Compliance and Audit activity.
  • Proficiency with Excel including Pivot Tables, PowerPoint, and other software programs, and ability to think macro and create a platform of KPIs and communication tools to collaborate cross-functionally. Eagerness to thrive inafast-movingenvironmentwhich changes constantly and embrace ambiguity.
