Responsibilities

  • We need talented individuals with program integration experience to lead program range and efficiency testing within our current product portfolio. Key responsibilities include:  
  • Lead a group of talented test engineers towards achieving range and efficiency objectives for each program milestone through the means of hardware testing  
  • Manage and execute range and efficiency development testing for all Rivian product programs  
  • Leverage Rivian leased and owned facilities and coordinate test timing to achieve objectives at a minimized cost 
  • Research alternative test facilities that can aid in Rivian’s seasonal development 
  • Willingness to travel to Rivian test facilities to optimize testing process and remove roadblocks 
  • Oversee range and efficiency testing plans to ensure appropriate number of vehicles, facilities and staff can complete objectives on time and with quality 
  • Work with other range and efficiency attribute engineers to complete requested testing 
  • Interface with managed staff to process data and communicate results and recommendations to leadership team 
  • Oversee standard work documentation process for range and efficiency to ensure standard work instructions are thoroughly documented for all test areas and represent latest testing methods at Rivian  
  • Provide training plans for test engineers to gain appropriate breadth of knowledge to perform testing activities outside of CA with limited supervision 
  • Manage and execute validation test items specific to range and efficiency to prepare vehicles for sale 
  • Assist certification team in vehicle preparation and pre-certification activities  
  • Represent the range attribute at key vehicle build milestones  
  • Assist with available resources to provide testing which can be used to correlate vehicle computer simulation models to test hardware 
  • Stay actively involved in software development and understanding of new features that may impact range and efficiency 
  • Quantify program risk in achieving range targets and resolve through cross-functional discussions 
  • Perform competitive benchmarking vehicle level testing as required 

Qualifications

  • Willingness to travel 25-50% of time 
  • Previous management experience required 
  • Previous experience in Energy/Efficiency areas preferably in Electric Vehicles 
  • Proficient in areas of vehicle coastdown and dynamometer testing  
  • Previous experience preferred in electric vehicle range certification and homologation 
  • Knowledgeable of industry test procedures (including SAE, EPA, CARB) relative to development and certification of electric vehicles for range and efficiency 
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams to achieve vehicle efficiency objectives 
  • Proficient in global regulatory test procedures for electric vehicles (outside of North America) 
  • Ability to present complex topics in a concise manner to leadership and provide recommendations and decisions needed
