As a core member of our growing communications and public affairs team, the Manager, Corporate Communications will drive strategic development and implementation of corporate communications programs.This individual is a innovative, driven and a team player who shows creativity, diplomacy and ability to juggle a heavy volume of diverse projects and tactical assignments.You’ll identify opportunities to tell impactful stories by leveraging company news and executive thought leadership, as well as product and business milestones that reinforce ICON’s brand perception. This role reports to the Director of PR & Events and is based on our Austin, TX campus.

RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Work with the communications team in the strategic development and implementation of corporate communications and public relations programs.
  • Craft compelling messaging to support key company announcements and ensure the narrative is always memorable, clear, and consistent across all channels.
  • Develop and own the communications preparedness strategy, building response procedures and providing messaging recommendations to leadership and customer-facing teams.
  • Build internal systems that allow all teams to access latest messaging and empower them to amplify ICON’s brand story.
  • Work closely with the PR team to generate high-impact media coverage and thought leadership opportunities for key spokespeople.
  • Manage creation of executive briefing packages, representing the corporate voice authentically, prepare proactive and reactive communications from the brand’s official accounts, and other messaging materials.
  • Write authentic, meaningful media pitches that clearly articulate ICON’s vision, commitments to partners, consumers and investors, and its position within the technology, space and homebuilding industries.
  • Track and disseminate real-time media responses.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with media in the corporate communications sector, identify pre-brief media targets, pitch and execute interviews with coverage to run at time of announcements.
  • Manage media interviews with executive leadership including preparing briefing documents for spokespeople in advance and staffing interviews alongside executives.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of ICON’s past, present and future business in order to articulate to media and other audiences.
  • Support in creation of communications materials both internal-facing and for public channels.
  • Submit for and track ICON’s award nominations across architecture, engineering, design, real estate and more.
  • Manage monitoring, measurement and reporting of corporate brand reputation in traditional and social media in coordination with Senior Manager of Marketing Communications.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with investor relations and business development teams across internal and external-facing communications.
  • Update and maintain FAQs and oversee responses to queries on brand platforms.
  • Help define, build and optimize key metrics for achieving overall success.
  • Adept at crafting strategic communications plans and knowing how to effectively execute them.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Deep understanding of the role of the reporters and how the media works.
  • Be proficient at problem-solving and confident.
  • Desire to continue learning and growing with professional drive and positive attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to rapidly deliver information and work with numerous stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience building content strategies, campaigns and executing.
  • Experience leading internal teams and external agencies through successful campaigns.
  • Solutions-oriented and resourceful.

 PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Professional degree in related fields.
  • Solid national and international media relationships.
  • Passion for PR industry and best practices.
  • Prior start-up experience and Fortune 500 company experience are a plus.
  • Media training capabilities.
  • Experience working with C-suite executives.
  • In-house brand communications experience preferred.
