We’re looking for a Lead Test Technician with structural, thermal, and/or electrical testing experience to join our charging team. If you’re the kind of person who sees a problem, develops a solution, and engineers an improvement no one’s asked for yet, then we want to talk with you!

As a Lead Test Technician, you will be supervised by and work in direct support of the HV Team Manager.  You will solve practical engineering problems and complex engineering scenarios by applying engineering principles in order to test state-of-the-art electric vehicle charging system, such as onboard charger, home charger and HV harnesses. Job Duties:

  • Directly support the HV team manager with developing, and coordinating test plans and designs for safety, validation, and exploratory testing
  • Assisting the HV team manager by planning, producing, and assembling mechanical parts for products, such as testing and industrial equipment
  • Recommend to HV team manager cost-effective changes in equipment design to improve reliability and safety
  • Review instructions and blueprints,  helping the HV team manager to ensure that project plans follow test specifications and procedures and meet objectives
  • Prepare layouts and drawings of the assembly process and parts to be made, usually using three-dimensional design software
  • Support the HV team manager in ordering, installing, operating, and maintaining various pieces of test equipment and machinery
  • Set up and conduct tests of complete units and their components, and record results to provide to the HV team manager
  • Provide to the HV team manager comparable test results with design specifications and with test objectives and recommend changes, if needed, in products or test methods
  • Make calculations for the HV team manager regarding business estimates, such as of labor costs and equipment lifespan

  • Qualifications:

  • Communication skills. Candidate must be able to clearly explain, both orally and in writing to the HV team manager, the need for changes in designs or test procedures.
  • Detail oriented. Candidate must make precise measurements and keep accurate records for the HV team manager and mechanical engineers.
  • Math skills. Candidate must use mathematics for analysis, design, and troubleshooting.
  • Mechanical skills. Candidate must apply theory and instructions from HV team manager and engineers by making new components for industrial machinery or equipment. They may need to be able to operate machinery such as drill presses, grinders, and engine lathes.
  • Problem-solving skills. Candidate helps HV team manager and mechanical engineers bring their plans and designs to life. This may require helping the HV team manager and engineers overcome problems that emerge throughout development or manufacturing.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years relative experience
  • Experience with Jira/Confluence system
  • Experience in automotive product validation (environmental testing, shock/drop, etc) 
  • Education:

  • High School or above
